Interim Global Financial Controller

Background

I graduated with a Business and Languages degree from Exeter University in 2003, before commencing a 3-year Chartered Accountancy training programme at a London-based auditing firm. Upon qualification, I moved to a European investment bank and worked in Financial and Regulatory reporting roles for 17 years. Within this period, I was also volunteering as Trustee and Treasurer for a UK educational charity: The Charitable Trust for the Tongabezi Trust School.  The school’s mission is to provide a free, quality, and holistic education to underprivileged and vulnerable Zambian children in the rural area of Simonga. I have been lucky enough to visit the school on two occasions since 2021. These experiences allowed me to observe the transformational power of providing greater opportunities to disadvantaged communities through funding of high-quality education.

During 2023, I consequently decided to initiate a career change into the non-profit arena. To demonstrate the sincerity of this aspiration I have also enrolled onto a part-time Master’s degree at Bayes Business School in Charity Accounting and Financial Management. I feel privileged to join Forum in November 2023 - my very first role within the sector - and I am excited to work for an organisation committed to solving complex global sustainability issues.

My dream project

My dream project would be centred upon the power of education to promote sustainable development through behaviour change.

What floats my boat outside work?

I’m an avid tennis fan, watching matches and playing regularly at my local club in Kingston. I love everything about the sport to the extent that I’ve started to pursue a tennis coaching qualification at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton. I am also a keen hiker and enjoy planning holidays with an adventurous challenge.
