Principal Change Designer

Background

My sustainability journey started from exploring the disconnects between consumer attitudes and their purchasing behaviour while working with Kantar, a global consumer insight company. Through working with pioneering companies like Unilever, I became increasingly aware of the many ways business can influence the world, as well as the barriers they face in driving change, which led me to systems change and Forum for the Future.

I’ve worked with businesses for 10 years, specialising in consumer behaviour research, supporting multinational food and health care companies to develop category and brand strategies, including how to help consumers make more sustainable choices. I have a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of East Anglia where I wrote my dissertation on rural landscape evolutions.

Since joining Forum in 2019 I’ve worked across a range of areas, helping food businesses, retailers and healthcare companies to think and act systemically when addressing their sustainability challenges. Highlights include exploring ways for retailers to support farming communities in their transition towards regenerative agriculture, developing a sustainability curriculum for culinary schools, and helping the private sector to act on the interconnected problems of climate, health and equity as part of the Climate and Health Coalition.

Dream project

I get excited by both helping organisations to harness their wider influence in the world to create change and helping them to activate that change at a local, community led level - two approaches which are often hard to match up. I was lucky enough to work on a community led net zero project which worked across both these spheres in 2020 in a partnership between Forum and Involve. My dream project would be to do something similar within the food or health landscape specifically.

What floats my boat outside work

Swimming in the local reservoir, cycling (minimal hills please) kayaking (rivers, polo, sea - the best of holidays), cooking, listening to live music, reading comedy science fiction.
