We are looking for a dynamic, proactive, experienced digital community manager to join our Futures Centre team. The Futures Centre is the only open, participatory digital futures platform in the world, focused on tracking and making sense of change with the purpose of advancing a just and regenerative future. Forum for the Future has recently re-launched the Futures Centre platform, and we are now looking to recruit for a role focused on building and maintaining a strong community around the platform and across related digital channels. The Futures Centre Community Manager would be based in our Mumbai office, but will work across all of our key geographies (India, APAC, the US, and Europe), and as part of an international team of futurists and digital comms specialists.  

This is a new role within Forum and provides an opportunity to work as part of an international team of passionate changemakers within a leading sustainability non-profit. You will play a key role in managing the online community engagement, and content dissemination for the Futures Centre.

About the team

This role will be based in our Mumbai office, and will be part of our global futures team, whose work focuses on using futures tools and techniques to understand how the world is changing, and create and communicate positive narratives about a just and regenerative future. The role will also be nested within our wider communications programme and as such, you will also have the opportunity to input into the organisation’s wider communications and marketing strategy. 

About the role

The core focus of this role will be building and maintaining a strong community around the Futures Centre and across all related digital channels, driving digital dialogue and crowdsourced content about sustainability topics. You will also work alongside the futures team to develop compelling content for the platform, optimised to digital channels and marketed across multiple audience touchpoints. You will take a lead on developing an online readership community, using various means including social media, media and event partnerships. 

Beyond this, you will also support the Digital Manager in developing and implementing a digital communications strategy for the Futures Centre that supports the overall purpose of the platform, and maximises awareness, engagement and conversion. You will work closely with the Digital Manager to develop and deliver digital campaigns to promote the Futures Centre platform and its content. 

About You

The Content and Community Manager will be an experienced and proactive communicator with excellent written and verbal skills, able to leverage Forum’s strategic relationships and networks, as well as building new ones, and to work effectively across a matrixed structure, geographies, and external partner organisations.

You will be creative and resilient, with an adaptive mindset You will also be a highly organised multi-tasker, able to work independently and be self-motivated, and manage multiple priorities within tight budgets while juggling often-competing deadlines.

You enjoy working with people from different cultures and across geographies and your preferred ways of working are embodied by Forum’s values (being courageous, adaptive, empathetic, inquisitive, playful and respectful).

Ideally, you will also bring an understanding of, and a passion for, sustainability and the change we are trying to create.  

You must have experience in:

  • Online community development and in launching online community initiatives for an international organisation (e.g. building an online forum, launching an ambassador programme, creating an event series, writing newsletters)

  • Search engine optimisation, social media strategy and tools, content management systems / day-to-day website management

  • Digital analytics - including ability to identify and track relevant community metrics and ability to identify and to ascertain content engagement levels

  • Working with a wide marketing mix, and on integrated communications campaigns  (across paid, owned and organic media opportunities; on and offline)
