Forum for the Future receives £400k in funding raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery

14 May 2024 - Forum for the Future has been awarded £400,000 in funding, raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, awarded by Postcode Green Trust. This funding will drive Forum’s work to accelerate the shift to a socially just and ecologically safe energy system, healthy and thriving food system, and to change the purpose of business in society and the economy.

Dr Sally Uren, CEO of Forum: “Our work to transform the agriculture sector in the UK has benefited from the support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery since 2019, and it is great news to become a charity partner of the Postcode Green Trust. This funding will allow us to work towards our ambition to change not only the way that we produce and consume food but also to transform the energy system, and the purpose of business in society for the benefit of both people and planet. We greatly value joining the network of leading charities supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and see the opportunities this will create to achieve our ambitions.”

Since 2019, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have contributed over £600,000 to bolster our initiatives, with a significant focus on the Growing Our Future programme in the UK. This initiative collaborates with farmers, food retailers, producers, and consumers to foster a more just and regenerative food system in the UK. Given agriculture's substantial contribution to greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss, alongside the statistic that up to 30% of farmers face profit challenges, it's evident that a more regenerative approach to food production is imperative. Leveraging Forum’s expertise in futures thinking and system change, the Growing Our Future programme engages with over 67 organisations across the fruit and vegetable value chains, including major UK supermarkets. With changemakers, we're proactively shaping the future of food production, prioritising the well-being of both people and the planet.
