Igniting Systems Change by supporting leadership, facilitation and practice

In a world of increasing uncertainty, while we work to enable greater change such as leading collaborations and building capacity of teams and groups to do transformational work, we also need to continuously build our ability to work with and in complexity.  This requires us to increase our own capacity as we engage others in practice.

In this course, you will be guided to the following three learning outcomes:

  • build your self-awareness and personal leadership capacity
  • support yourself working with group dynamics including perspective taking and polarities
  • nurture your confidence in bringing a systemic approach to facilitate transformational change in your practice

Is Spark for me?

We ask participants coming into this course to have the following:
  • a foundational understanding of systems change, having learned about and used at least some tools in practice
  • some previous group facilitation experience whether through learning offers, workshops or collaborative projects
  • an opportunity to apply the skills you are learning from this course in a practical setting

This is not a course that will introduce you to systems frameworks and tools that support diagnosing and strategizing for systems change - if you are looking for this kind of training, check out our Basecamp course. Instead, Spark supports underlying capabilities needed to work systemically and relationally, with others and yourself, to support the application of systems change in practice.

Which Spark course is for me?

This year, the School of System Change is offering three Spark courses —one in-person retreat and two online. All our Spark offerings cover the same content and curriculum delivered by a team of leading practitioners from the field.

For our online courses, the difference is simply which time zone you will be dialling in from. For our in-person retreat offering, you will need to be able to travel to Somerset, UK, for the first intensive of the course and to access coaching sessions and the final intensive delivered online from a UK-time zone. The in-person offering comes with slightly higher fee, as a contribution towards the cost of the residency hire. Click on our online offerings to learn more about course specifics.

Course fees

The School of System Change is continually working to improve the financial accessibility of our courses. It is our intention that those able to finance the higher tier fees contribute at the full rate, in order to support others to access the discounted rates.

For the residential option, the tuition fee is the same, with a contribution towards the cost of the residency hire added. Three pricing options are available for different room-types - all in luxury, eco-friendly accommodation- ranging from a private double with ensuite; to a socially-distanced, shared room, either with a known applicant or a new face on the cohort. There is the opportunity for you to express your room preference in the application form, as well as payment options. There will also be an opportunity for you to share any accessibility accommodations we can make to support your stay.
