Futures Salon: Me, Myself, and My Microbiome

Forum Event
11 November, 2015 - 16:00 to 19:00
Brooklyn, New York, USA

Save the Date: Wed, 11 Nov, 4 – 7pm

"The microbiome is the sum of our experiences throughout our lives: the genes we inherited, the drugs we took, the food we ate, the hands we shook.” – Ed Yong, science writer for the NYT

Join innovators, entrepreneurs and futurists for an exploration of the human microbiome: what it is, how it works and the implications of its discovery to the future of human health and the environment.

Forum for the Future embarks on a series of Futures Salons this fall – interactive sessions exploring topics that have the potential to disrupt current systems. Salons will enable engagement with experts on innovative topics in science, entrepreneurship, and social impact.

For the first Salon we will focus on the human microbiome and the interaction between bacteria and their human hosts. In the past few years there has been a greater understanding of the importance of the microbiome. The Salon will provide an opportunity for a “deep dive” into the topic and will focus on examining the existing research, future implications, and impact on sustainable business. We will facilitate informal conversations among participants and experts. Light refreshments will be provided.
