Sectors : Food,
My work cuts across the food agenda but I have a specific interest in creating sustainable value chains in the food sector.
I started my career in the corporate world working for a large multinational in Brussels. From there I went on to do an MSc in Environmental Economics but found the part I was passionate about was the environment and development side. After a brief stint in Dublin I followed my passion to Malawi for almost 3 years where the best environment bit was the monkeys in the front garden. I felt the need to return but still be involved in the development world so worked at the University of Reading examining small-scale food processing industries in sub-Saharan Africa, which also became the focus of my PhD. Then Forum beckoned in a different way, returning to work on sustainable development but on the public sector in the UK. Now my work on food will bring it all together- development, food and sustainable development.
What would your dream Forum project be? Supporting small-scale food producers and processors to grow by accessing markets, making them part of sustainable value chains.
What floats your boat outside work? Hiking in mountains, camping in stunning locations, my children and eating out.
