Climate change:
Practical, desirable and profitable steps to take on the farm

Farming Futures is a communication project designed to inform and inspire farmers and land managers about the risks and opportunities climate change presents to their businesses, and promote behaviour change in the sector.

Farming Futures has entered its third successful year of reaching out to farmers with factsheets and case studies, a dedicated website, presence at key national and regional events, and on-farm ‘seeing is believing’ seminars on topics from anaerobic digestion to new crops.

Our brand is recognised across the sector for its ‘no strings attached’ approach to delivering change and is trusted and endorsed by many of the major movers and shakers in the world  of agriculture and land management.

It is a collaboration project between the National Farmers Union, Country Land and Business Association, Defra, the Agricultural Industries Confederation and the Agricultural and Horticultural Research Forum (representing the agricultural and horticultural levy boards). It is also a major communications vehicle for the Rural Climate Change Forum. We facilitate sector agreement on key climate change messages within this wide partner base, ensuring a clear and consistent voice for farmers and land managers to listen to.

Farming Futures is currently developing a long term vison and plan for the project (2010 – 2013), in which we hope to work more closely with the Rural Climate Change Forum, widen our partner base and better engage with our future farming leaders.

For more information on Farming Futures, visit our project website which was recently voted the number one site for information on climate change and agriculture in the Farmers Weekly climate change special publication.
