We know that good communications can change the world.
We want to capture the imagination of leaders and entrepreneurs around the globe, show them that a sustainable way of life is both possible and desirable, and inspire them to be catalysts for change.
We want to bring to life the urgency of the challenges facing us – and the opportunities waiting for those with the vision and the energy to seize them.
And we want to give them the information they need to transform businesses and public services, by spreading the word about practical solutions and by leading the debate on how we can secure a prosperous, low-carbon future.
Our work
Our award-winning magazine Green Futures is consistently ahead of the curve, tackling emerging issues long before they become mainstream. Quoted by both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown in Parliament, its 40,000 plus print readership includes politicians, business leaders and campaigners. It reaches many more online and via syndication, with significant readership in Asia, Africa and the Americas.
Our groundbreaking reports change policy and practice. Our Climate Futures study on how global warming may transform our society attracted worldwide attention and is in demand from businesses keen to future proof their operations. Our annual Sustainable Cities Index drives change in the UK’s biggest cities by allowing city leaders – and their citizens – to track their progress on sustainability. See the Library for more reports.
We want our website to be the liveliest and most engaging in the field of sustainability and an essential resource for sustainability professionals. Our blogs offer a platform for debate on current sustainability issues, complementing our online Green Futures articles. We offer mini-sites on each of our areas of focus, aggregating our work in each area.
We run innovative campaigns. We launched the Climate Change Challenge to raise awareness of green innovation – a global competition for the best innovations to tackle climate change, run in collaboration with the Financial Times and HP. We attracted nearly 300 entries in the first year and media coverage all over the world.
Almost half of all English farmers are aware of Farming Futures, the project we coordinate for a partnership of farming bodies and Defra. It gets them up to speed on how climate change will affect their business and what they can do about it. The website has been judged the best for information on this topic by Farmers Weekly.
