Ikea DIYs it

Ikea invests €50 million in cleantech start-ups

The new investment arm, Ikea GreenTech, aims to work with five or six companies in areas such as solar, lighting, energy efficiency and water saving, over the next five years. The idea is to help bring their products to market as soon – and as cheaply – as possible. Their solar panels, smart meters and suchlike could be selling in Ikea’s own stores within three to four years.

If you can’t wait that long to get your hands on green DIY kit, check out the new online store from green electricity supplier Good Energy. There, you’ll find everything from staple green products such as lightbulbs, to full-scale solar PV panels, biomass generators, and ground source heat pumps. They also offer advice on planning and installation.
