China goes car-free

24th June, 2007 by admin | Add a comment

 …for a day

China is set to put the brakes on its love affair with the car on 22 September. But don’t get too excited, it’s just for a day.

The seventh annual World Car-Free Day, when thousands of cities across the globe close roads to cars (and celebrate in the breathing space), will see over 100 Chinese cities join in for the first time.

I pulled out the latest issue of Green Futures for a bit of light relief. It instantly lifted my mood as it reminded me just… how exciting sustainability issues can be.
