Down to earth

The Autonomous Environmental Information Centre (AtEIC) under construction at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth, is using innovative low-impact materials, including rammed earth in load-bearing columns and walls, and the thick insulation of low-grade local sheep’s wool - which is also providing a new market for a local, and underused, product.
