From community energy companies to micro-renewables, from open source energy technology to smart grids, there are no shortage of ways to change the energy sector. This change cannot come quickly enough - we need a revolution in the energy system. If we are to avoid the worst impacts of climate change we need to transform how we generate, distribute, store and use energy.
That’s why Forum for the Future has launched a project to encourage new and existing ideas to breakthrough or “gatecrash” the UK energy sector. Supported by The Tellus Mater Foundation, this experimental project aims find and encourage disruptive ideas that will deliver a radically different energy system.
We want to help outsiders shake up the energy sector’s preconceived ideas – this is not about renewables versus nuclear or centralised versus distributed – this is about changing our day-to-day relationship with energy.
If you are you an energy expert, an energy enthusiast or just feel we need to transform the energy sector then we want to hear from you.We are bringing together a community of thinkers and doers to share and develop ideas.
Our aim is to demonstrate to government and business leaders the alternatives to the current system and to win their support.
We want to hear your ideas for the best way to encourage the energy revolution. You can post ideas on our website and join us for workshops on 21st October and 26th November 2010.
There are just six days left to submit your ideas and you can follow our progress on Twitter
The more ideas the better
Whether you think an eco-lottery is the key to a low carbon energy revolution, or an energy tariff that rewards lower energy usage we want your input. This is an experimental project and at this stage we welcome all suggestions for how we should proceed.
Have you spotted a gap for scaling up some of the great ideas that are already out there, through opening up new forms of finance or matchmaking service providers with customers? Is there an idea you’ve been chewing on that you think just might make a difference? Do you want some constructive input to help build and develop your thinking?
Submit your ideas now.
Sign-up for one or both of the workshops.
