The Landfill Prize

The Landfill Prize 2010 highlights just how idiotically wasteful our world still is – in a very entertaining way! Members of the public vote on the year’s most pointless, wasteful and needlessly complex gadgets and a panel of expert judges headed up by John Naish, author of Enough: breaking free from the world of more, vote for the ‘best’ one. My favourites are the ‘Dryear Ear Dryer’ and the ‘100% organic cotton toilet tissue’! It’s quite controversial to see the ‘Kindle’ in there too! A run down of the top ten landfillers is available here: http://www.enoughness.co.uk/. Enjoy.

it's nice they provide you with a link to buy them as well - I could do with a putter come fishing rod...

(as an aside, not sure if I totally agree with their suggestions. The peeing putter, for example could be a good way of reducing toxins that urination can put in the local ecosystem - at Glastonbury they forbid weeing in the bushes for this reason, and the kindle could reduce the number of books produced, cutting down on waste)
