Google is so disappointed by the progress the energy industry has made on solar that they are going to just ruddy well solve the problem themselves. The aim is to drop the cost from 18 cents a kW-h to under 5.
They are also looking at solar thermal and gas turbines that run on solar power. They want to make sure these technologies have a lower price point than coal.
Seriously though...the energy market is not going to be disrupted – for the better hopefully.
