Don't save your bacon, spend it!

A US comedian is travelling from New York to LA, with only 3000lbs of bacon to get him across the country. Using the bacon to barter for food, lodging and fuel, Josh Sankey plans to find out whether "America loves this bacon as much as money!" 

Carnivores can track the progess of the Great American Bacon Barter through Josh's Twitter account and dedicated website. The site shows a list of items, including a hat, being hosted by a family and a beach party are traded for 'bacon bricks' - packs of Butcher Thick Cut Bacon.

The Bacon Barter uses a host of social media tricks to connect consumers to their bacon in a tongue in cheek, slick campaign that showing there is no product too mundane to create a social media ripple...
